Co Ziemia chce przed nami ukryć? Nowa publikacja z udziałem kierownika projektu MARIVEL
What Does Earth Erase? New Publication Featuring the MARIVEL Principal Investigator

Z przyjemnością informujemy o nowej publikacji w prestiżowym czasopiśmie Journal of Geophysical Research: Planets. Współautorem artykułu jest kierownik projektu MARIVEL, dr inż. Bartosz Pieterek.

Artykuł What Earth Erases: Weathering Diversity of Mineral Phases Formed in a Highly Reduced Environment Hosted in Aubrites przedstawia badania dwóch rzadkich meteorytów – NWA 14582 i Ribbeck.

What Does Earth Erase? New Publication Featuring the MARIVEL Principal Investigator

We are pleased to announce a new article published in the prestigious Journal of Geophysical Research: Planets. Dr Bartosz Pieterek, principal investigator of the MARIVEL project, contributed to the study as a co-author.

The article, What Earth Erases: Weathering Diversity of Mineral Phases Formed in a Highly Reduced Environment Hosted in Aubrites, investigates two rare meteorites: NWA 14582 and Ribbeck. The authors demonstrate how exposure to Earth’s environment can alter or even completely remove some of the original minerals preserved in extraterrestrial material. Meteorites are extraordinary archives of Solar System history, but their records begin to change after they reach our planet.

Meteorite research is an important complement to remote-sensing observations in planetary science. While spacecraft allow us to examine planetary surfaces from orbit, laboratory analyses provide detailed access to actual fragments of other celestial bodies. Together, these approaches help scientists better understand the formation and evolution of planets and planetary systems.
