Exploring Martian Volcanoes through International Collaboration
Dr Bartosz Pieterek z Uniwersytetu im. Adama Mickiewicza w Poznaniu rozpoczął wizytę badawczą w Lancaster Environment Centre na Lancaster University, gdzie będzie współpracował z dr. Thomasem Jonesem oraz jego zespołem badawczym.
Wizyta odbywa się w ramach programu Inicjatywa Doskonałości – Uczelnia Badawcza (ID-UB) UAM oraz projektu MARIVEL, finansowanego przez Narodowe Centrum Nauki (NCN).
Podczas pobytu naukowcy będą kontynuować wspólne badania nad małoskalowymi systemami wulkanicznymi na Marsie. Analiza tych niewielkich form wulkanicznych dostarcza cennych informacji o procesach zachodzących we wnętrzu Czerwonej Planety i pozwala lepiej odtworzyć historię jej aktywności wulkanicznej. Efekty współpracy mają przyczynić się do pogłębienia wiedzy o ewolucji geologicznej Marsa oraz rozwoju nowoczesnych metod analizy danych planetarnych.
To kolejny etap rozwijającej się współpracy między Uniwersytetem im. Adama Mickiewicza w Poznaniu i Lancaster University, pokazujący, jak międzynarodowe partnerstwa wspierają prowadzenie badań na światowym poziomie i otwierają nowe perspektywy w naukach o planetach.
Exploring Martian Volcanoes through International Collaboration
Dr Bartosz Pieterek from Adam Mickiewicz University in Poznań has begun a research visit to the Lancaster Environment Centre at Lancaster University, where he will be working with Dr Thomas Jones and his research group.
The visit is supported by the Excellence Initiative – Research University (ID-UB) programme at Adam Mickiewicz University and the MARIVEL project, funded by the National Science Centre (NCN), Poland.
During the visit, the researchers will continue their collaboration on the study of small-scale volcanic systems on Mars. These relatively small volcanic landforms provide valuable insights into the geological processes that have shaped the Red Planet over billions of years. By investigating their morphology, distribution, and evolution, the team aims to improve our understanding of Mars’ volcanic history and the processes that have influenced its geological evolution.
This visit represents another important step in the growing collaboration between Adam Mickiewicz University and Lancaster University, highlighting the value of international partnerships in advancing planetary science and expanding our knowledge of Mars.
