Goldschmidt 2026 in Montreal

Podczas konferencji kierownik projektu wygłosił referat pt. „Tracing the evolution of a young magmatic plumbing system in Tharsis, Mars using spectrally derived mineralogy”, prezentujący wyniki badań dotyczących ewolucji systemu magmowego na Marsie. Wystąpienie promowało rezultaty opublikowane w 2026 roku na łamach czasopisma Geology w artykule „Spectral evidence for magmatic differentiation within a martian plumbing system”, dostępnym pod adresem: https://doi.org/10.1130/G53969.1.

„Metal transfer and potential metal reservoirs in the subcontinental lithospheric mantle: Balmuccia Massif, Ivrea–Verbano Zone”, podsumowującego wyniki badań zrealizowanych w ramach projektu PRELUDIUM Narodowego Centrum Nauki (NCN), kierowanego przez kierownika projektu. Prezentacja umożliwiła przedstawienie rezultatów badań międzynarodowemu środowisku naukowemu oraz uzyskanie cennych opinii ekspertów zajmujących się procesami magmowymi i geochemią płaszcza Ziemi.

Udział w konferencji stworzył także doskonałą okazję do nawiązania nowych kontaktów naukowych z badaczami z wiodących ośrodków badawczych z całego świata. Dyskusje prowadzone podczas sesji naukowych i spotkań pozwoliły na wymianę doświadczeń, omówienie możliwości przyszłej współpracy.

Goldschmidt 2026 in Montreal

Principal Investigator of the MARIVEL project Bartosz Pieterek, participated in the international Goldschmidt 2026 conference, which took place in Montreal, Canada, from July 12–17, 2026. It is one of the world’s most important scientific events dedicated to geochemistry, geology, and Earth and planetary sciences. Approximately 2,700 abstracts were submitted for this year’s conference, reflecting its high standing and the broad scope of the research presented.

During the conference, the project leader delivered a presentation titled “Tracing the evolution of a young magmatic plumbing system in Tharsis, Mars using spectrally derived mineralogy” presenting the results of research on the evolution of the magmatic system on Mars. The presentation highlighted the findings published in 2026 in the journal Geology in the article “Spectral evidence for magmatic differentiation within a Martian plumbing system,” available at: https://doi.org/10.1130/G53969.1. The publication presents new evidence for magmatic differentiation within the young magmatic system of the Tharsis region, providing valuable insights into the processes occurring within Mars.

The conference also provided an opportunity to present a poster titled “Metal transfer and potential metal reservoirs in the subcontinental lithospheric mantle: Balmuccia Massif, Ivrea–Verbano Zone” summarizing the results of research conducted as part of the PRELUDIUM project of the National Science Center (NCN), led by the project director. The presentation allowed the research findings to be shared with the international scientific community and provided valuable feedback from experts specializing in magmatic processes and the geochemistry of the Earth’s mantle.

Participation in the conference also provided an excellent opportunity to establish new scientific contacts with researchers from leading research centers around the world. Discussions held during scientific sessions and meetings allowed for the exchange of experiences and the exploration of opportunities for future collaboration.
