Z radością informujemy, że dr inż. Bartosz Pieterek, kierownik projektu MARIVEL, otrzymał wyróżnienie w prestiżowym konkursie Nagroda Geologia 2025, organizowanym przez Ministerstwo Klimatu i Środowiska.
Nagrodzone przedsięwzięcie badawcze pt. „Rekonstrukcja czasoprzestrzenna aktywności wulkanicznej na Marsie na podstawie danych satelitarnych i geologicznych” dotyczyło analizy historii wulkanizmu na Czerwonej Planecie z wykorzystaniem nowoczesnych metod teledetekcji oraz interpretacji danych geologicznych.
Wyróżnione badania stanowiły inspirację i punkt wyjścia do opracowania obecnego projektu MARIVEL, który rozwija te założenia, łącząc nauki o Ziemi i planetach w celu lepszego zrozumienia procesów geologicznych zachodzących w Układzie Słonecznym.
To osiągnięcie pokazuje, że geologia planetarna w Polsce dynamicznie się rozwija, zyskując coraz większe uznanie w środowisku naukowym. Kierunek ten nie tylko poszerza nasze spojrzenie na ewolucję Marsa, ale także wyznacza nowe perspektywy dla przyszłości polskich badań geologicznych.
Honorable mention in the Geology 2025 Award competition
We are pleased to announce that Dr. Bartosz Pieterek, principal investigator of the MARIVEL project, received an honorable mention in the prestigious Geology 2025 Award competition organized by the Ministry of Climate and Environment.
The award-winning project, entitled “Spatiotemporal reconstruction of volcanic activity on Mars based on satellite and geological data,” involved analyzing the history of volcanism on the Red Planet using modern remote sensing methods and geological data interpretation.
The award-winning research constituted the inspiration and starting point for the development of the ongoing MARIVEL project, which builds on these assumptions, combining Earth and planetary sciences to better understand the geological processes occurring in the Solar System.
This achievement shows that planetary geology in Poland is developing dynamically, gaining increasing recognition in the scientific community. This direction not only broadens our view of the evolution of Mars, but also sets new perspectives for the future of Polish geological research.
